We have some very special events being planned for May. I have mentioned them to a few guests and they asked me for the dates so that they can block the days on their calendars. I am still working on some of the details but these events could be the best we ever had.More details will be released in future newsletters.

If you attended our first signing, you know there was one more character in the room other than the characters in the book and that was Andrew himself. Because of our support and encouragement to help an entrepreneur succeed he will be launching his new hard cover book "Their Last Suppers" right from here... Rockford, Illinois.

Red-Hot Challenge and Wine Tasting

Friday, May 7th

Some of the areas Bravest and Finest will be trading in their fire hoses for grills and spatulas for the benefit of Muscular Dystrophy Association. Eleven Stations from Rockford as well as 3 other departments will be represented. On Wednesday,each team will draw a recipe from The History Chef's new hard cover book.. "Their Last Suppers". Each team will have Thursday to find the ingredients. Andrew and his publisher will be providing us with 2 new Weber Gas Grills for the teams to cook on. Each hour starting at 1:00 PM ..2 teams will be cooking. They have 40 minutes to prepare and cook the recipe and present it to Andrew Caldwell for judging. As we all know food is nothing without the perfect wine. Throughout the event until 9:00 PM our wine distributors will be coming in to taste you on some great wines. Currently we are working on having a live Radio Broadcast by WNTA's Bruce Butler. Andrew Caldwell will be here throughout the event and personally signing books for our guests. We will be taking photos and will be happy make prints for you.

I would be remiss if I didn't tell you a little story about Andrew.Last November we had a book signing event with Andrew Caldwell, the History Chef. He had a self published book...."Their Last Suppers" that, to say the least was quite interesting. "Many said.. a book signing at a wine and cigar store are you nuts?" It was a cold Thursday night and our beloved Chicago Bears were playing..how could we possibly draw a crowd? Well we did and sold our entire allocation of books. Andrew has come a long way since November. He now has a national publisher, Andrews McMeel Publishing, and is working on a pilot for a TV series based on his book. After the event Andrew will be making a generous contribution to MDA in the name of the winning team
The top 2 teams will take the grills back for use at their stations and Andrew will come back and cook for the winning team's station.
